This paper was presented at the First Exhibition of Towns in the West (ODS), held in Bandjoun of 8 to 11 December 2009. The theme was: " the contribution of partners and the diaspora in the development of western Cameroon ".

The said communication was embedded in the roundtable with the theme:" Environment and importance of renewable energy to improve living conditions of people in western Cameroon.

It shows that households in the western region may voluntarily contribute up to 366 679 110 FCFA to finance their own solar kit in order to improve their living conditions. This willingness to pay can buy 1018 solar kits in one year.
