Electricity and lighting: is there really a difference?
Some would say without hesitation, electricity for lighting said, since there is not in their view, fundamental difference. Other cons will by choice, by what they find there is a clear difference between the two.
Electricity is obtained from sources such as water (hydro electricity), wind (wind), the heat from the ground (geothermal energy) under the seabed (tidal); the sun (solar energy). The presence of electricity is indispensable for domestic use (lighting, use of equipment ...) and professional (small Trade ...).
It therefore finds that the electricity solves lighting problems and also helps to meet the information needs (using his radio for example), and communication (permanent recharge his mobile phone by example). At this stage it is right to say as electricity and light are one and the same entity.
Lighting refers to the presence of light in a space defined and precise. We say such a bright room is a room where there is the presence of light, whatever its origin. Daytime one receives the light from the sun's rays, and it is not necessary the need to enlighten through electricity. At this stage it can be seen as electricity and lighting are two different entities. The electricity can certainly have lighting, but lighting can be obtained in the absence of electricity.
Let the above question: What Has it really need electricity or lighting?
It responds by saying it depends on the area residence. In urban areas, households have devices that require the presence of electricity (iron, fridge, computers, TV ...), which makes them dependent on this form of energy, and they are willing to sacrifice all months a significant proportion of their income to pay their bills, so as not to be out. By the turn in economic theory, we can consider electricity as a commodity to inelastic demand, ie a good whose demand falls very little when its price increases. Indeed, the rising price of one kWh reduces very low total monthly consumption. The reason lies in the fact that the devices available in the household will still be used in the same manner as if prices had not experienced an increase (eg a refrigerator used for food preservation).
In rural households by cons mainly use kerosene for lighting their homes, and most of the lighting needs in electricity, since they do not have the most devices heavy drinking, or continued use, such as refrigerators. By day, the situation is identical regardless of place of residence. everyone has access to the lighting, or better everybody has the light. After dark, hurricane lanterns dominate the lighting in rural areas, indicating that the needs of the latter are mainly related to lighting.
How can we satisfy this need lighting for rural people?
Several solutions are considered: the connection to the main network, construction of micro hydro plants in villages, or the use of solar panels is very costly and requires significant investment that can not be borne by the rural population. A simple and adequate to meet this need would be to use sunlamps.
There are many, but we will introduce two types:

It is therefore possible in rural areas, to replace kerosene lamps with solar lamps, whose use is easy and a great scope for achieving the MDGs
- MDG 1: Eradicate extreme poverty and hunger in rural areas, lighting by solar lights promotes the development of small businesses in the night, since it is only during the day;
- MDG 2 : Achieve universal primary education: This device facilitates the study of children in the evening;
- MDG 3: Gender equality and empowerment of women: this increases the chances of girls complete a full course primary or secondary
- MDGs 4, 5: Reduce child mortality; Ensuring maternal health: This device is useful in health centers, dispensaries and hospitals in rural areas for consultation and infant deliveries at night, some are attended by hurricane lamps. In addition, the infant mortality rate is also partly caused by the inhalation of smoke after the use of kerosene lamps;
- MDG 7: Ensure environmental sustainability: solar lamps produce light that is environmentally clean, because they do not emit CO2, unlike traditional oil lamps which emit large amounts of carbon dioxide, which is a major greenhouse gas emissions.
