Cherchell: Lol Phoenician colony, founded around the fourth century BC, was Cherchell especially the town of Juba II, Numidian prince educated in Rome, who renamed Caesare, made it the capital of Mauritania and built the main monuments there are a few remnants. Juba II gathered there still Greek sculpture which made him famous, including a famous statue of Apollo. Cherchell later became the provincial capital of the Roman Empire.
